Smokin’ Joe Kubek was an American Texas Blues artist. Born in Pennsylvania, he grew up in the Dallas area where at the age of fourteen, played with the likes of Freddie King. In the late 1980s, he teamed up with B-Nois King, a well-known Texas blues and jazz guitar player. B’Nois was also an accomplished composer and songwriter.
They released their first recording on Bird Records, where executive producers, Clint Birdwell and Charlie Wirz worked their magic. B’Nois and Smokin’ Joe continued to play music together for well over two decades.
Unfortunately, Smokin’ Joe passed away on October 11, 2015 at the young age of 58.
The Texas Musician’s Museum in Irving, Texas will be unveiling a special display dedicated to the memory of Smokin’ Joe Kubek on Friday, August 5th. The B’Nois King Blues Band will take the stage to entertain, share memories and songs in honor of Smokin’ Joe Kubek.
