For the past several
years, the Texas Musicians Museum has celebrated our rich musical
heritage in Hillsboro, Texas. Today the museum is at a critical
juncture. The time has come for music lovers to take action to preserve
our Texas music history for the education and enjoyment of future
generations. Upcoming crucial decisions will be made for the TMM based
upon the response to this request.

People have encouraged the TMM through the years, and have shown their
support in many ways. The support came in all sizes and shapes; some
performed or lent a hand at fundraisers, did yard work, distributed
handbills, helped with security, sold tickets, assisted in the gift
shop, and even arranged funeral flowers for our display: The Day the
Music Died.
We sincerely appreciate all of you and now request
everyone’s serious consideration as we take our next leap forward.
Your initial input, as we began this project, was to kick it up a notch or two, whereby we…
1. Start up using our own money, resources and collectables. (ACHEIVED!)
2. Set up a cozy, attractive museum celebrating our state’s unique music history and prove it can be a place that’s not only fun, but a learning experience, as well.
(ACHEIVED!)
3. Become allied with private collectors and archivists who can provide the TMM with “museum quality” items for display, through loans and donations.
(ACHEIVED!)
4. Become a destination for travelers on the I-35 corridor and a “must stop” for music lovers, not only from Texas and the US, but from international travelers, as well.
(ACHEIVED!)
5. Kick up media attention with articles in magazines, on regional television programs and via the internet.
(ACHEIVED!)
6. Once comfortable in “rehearsals,” take the show to a prime location and do so with a presentation that’s worthy of our big state, big talent, and big ideas.
To that end, we now have the incredible opportunity to move to a
highly-visible and historic Dallas-Ft Worth location, one offering a
much larger space compared to our present 1600 sq ft. The new 6500 sq
ft DFW site will allow us to finally display the majority of our
phenomenal collection, most of which has previously been in archival
storage. This high-traffic location will allow the TMM to be allied
with a neighboring 2,000-seat theater which hosts national touring acts,
and will become the perfect venue to host our Hall Of Fame awards and
TMM benefits. This has long been our ultimate dream, and this site will
place the TMM in an excellent position to insure the long-term success
of the museum.
We initially need $100,000 to fund this project. Once relocated to the
DFW area, our new museum home should enable us to raise the additional
funds necessary to create an endowment that will promise the continued
museum operation for generations to come.
As a supporter of Texas music, we look to you for ideas on how to
realize this goal.
We welcome financial assistance, including monetary
donations (large or small), but also would love to see some company
sponsorships or hosting of fundraisers. If you are part of the Texas
music scene, past or present, or have been influenced by a Texas
musician, please consider a fundraising performance, or a donation of
signed items for auction. Something as simple as your sincere support of
this project to the public via social networking would be welcome.
C’mon, Texans! Who do you know that can help make a difference?
Let’s
spread the word quickly. Just a little help from a large number of
supporters will accomplish great things, and we know there are masses of
music lovers out there! Please help the museum achieve this goal and
show us your support by forwarding this plea to your friends,
encouraging others to “like” our Facebook page, and attending our
fundraising events. YOU can make a huge difference!
Contact us at the museum and let us know what you can do. We’d love to hear your ideas.
Time is crucial here! We must quickly take advantage of this
exceptional opportunity in order to continue the preservation work of
the Texas Musicians Museum and give our Texas musicians the historical
recognition they deserve.
Be a part of our Texas music history. The
future of the Texas Musicians Museum is up to you!
